Prince William Living Announces Its “Influential Women”

Rebecca Vaughan-King Wins Inaugural Award Celebrating Inspiring Women

Prince William, VA: To celebrate Women’s History Month, Prince William Living, a lifestyle magazine celebrating the people and places of Prince William County and the cities of Manassas and Manassas Park, invited its readers submit nominations for its inaugural “Influential Women Awards.” From nearly 30 entries, the magazine selected Rebecca Vaughan-King of Imagine as one of the five winners.

Readers were asked to share stories of local female leaders who inspired them through professional achievements, charitable works or an ability to improve every life they touch. The magazine received 28 entries; several women received multiple nominations. While the nominees varied greatly in age and profession, all shared a dedication to improving the world around them, said PW Living Publisher Rebecca Barnes.

“Selecting our winners was no easy task. We had so many truly inspirational women nominated. It makes you very proud to be part of greater Prince William,” said Barnes. “

Still, she said, five nominations rose to the top: Jane Beyer with Prince William County Government; Cathy Hailey with Woodbridge Senior High School; Dr. Alice Howard with National Coalition of Black Women; Sheila Mathis, CNM with Manassas Midwifery & Women’s Health Center and Rebecca Vaughan-King with Imagine.

“These women are each redefining boundaries, not only for themselves, but for others,” said Barnes. “Whether bringing about change from the inside, nurturing creative thinkers, increasing awareness of a deadly disease, empowering women in their healthcare choices or blazing career trails, each of our winners is giving of themselves to strengthen our community. Their influence is far-reaching and impactful.”

Rebecca Vaughan-King has held practically every role in sales and marketing, starting as a door-to-door salesperson (at age seven).
