JCM H.E.L.P. Center Aiding Ex-Offenders with Job Readiness Training
Manassas, VA. (August 20, 2013) — The JCM H.E.L.P. Center, a non-profit organization, in conjunction with the SkillSource Group and the Virginia Department of Corrections has begun offering intensive job readiness training to a select group of ex-offenders.
Under the Virginia Serious and Violent Offender Reentry Initiative program (VASAVOR), the training seeks to enhance offenders’ successful reentry into the community and reduce recidivism. The program is for incarcerated offenders serving a state sentence who are released under supervision, with no detainers, who have home plans and return placement in Fairfax.
The job readiness program prepares the individuals with the specialized training and computers skills they need for successful job searches and continued employment. Utilizing the job preparation techniques taught during the sessions can be an important tool in separating a job seeker from his or her competition.
