Governor Launches Regulatory Reform Initiative

Governor Bob McDonnell recently launched the Governor’s Regulatory Reform initiative, which includes the creation of Governors McDonnell and Allen, US Representative Wittman and VA Delegate Anderson toured Logis-Tech with the Prince William Chamber. a new portal for citizens to submit ideas for regulatory reform.  The governor has also charged regulatory agencies with:

  • Conducting a comprehensive review of current regulations,
  • Repealing regulations that are unnecessary or no longer in use,
  • Reducing unnecessary regulatory burdens on individuals and businesses, and
  • Identifying statutes that require unnecessary or overly burdensome regulations.

This initiative is an extension of Governor McDonnell’s efforts as Attorney General to eliminate unnecessary and burdensome regulations through his Task Force on Regulatory and Government Reform. The task force made more than 300 recommendations to streamline Virginia’s Administrative Code. Recommendations for reforms can be submitted at www.RegReform.Virginia.Gov.  The initiative was one of the topics when the Governor along with Governor George Allen, Representative Rob Wittman and Delegate Rich Anderson toured Manassas-based Logis-Tech in October.  The policymakers also had the opportunity to gain a firsthand perspective on needs within the government contracting and IT industries.
