Announcing: Recycling Themed Art Contest for Local Students

American Disposal Services Hosts Regional Recycling Art contest for Northern VA Students; Winning Art Displayed at the ‘American Recycling Center’

MANASSAS, VA, February 5, 2014 – American Disposal Services, located in Manassas, Virginia, is holding a regional recycling themed art contest for all students grades 1-12 from Arlington, Clarke, Culpeper, Fairfax, Fauquier, Frederick, King George, Loudoun, Prince William, Stafford and Spotsylvania counties. Winning artwork will be displayed in American’s new, state of the art, recycling processing facility; The American Recycling Center.  A monetary prize will also be awarded to all winners.
Contestants will be broken up into three grade level categories: elementary, middle and high school. A first, second and third place winner will be chosen from each.
The theme of the contest is ‘The Impact of Recycling on the Environment.’ Entries will be judged according to the following criteria (as they pertain to the theme);technique, personal expression, organization and integration.  Each criterion is weighted equally. Grade level will be considered.
Accepted media to include: paintings, drawings, prints, mixed media as well as two and three dimensional collage or sculpture.
All submissions must be dropped off (Monday through Friday, between the hours of 8am and 4:30pm) or sent to American Disposal’s main office; 10370 Central Park Drive, Manassas, VA 20110, by March 3, 2014.
