Chamber Members Support 2024 Summer Reading

Prince William Public Libraries’ Summer Reading program provides enriching experiences during the summer break and naturally nurtures a love for reading. This year, 13 Chamber members sponsored this important literacy program so children and young adults can read, learn, socialize, and develop skills at no cost to their caregivers.
Thank you, Prince William County and Manassas City communities and Prince William Chamber of Commerce members. Without your support, we could not continue to offer the quality level of programming our patrons have come to love. For the complete list of sponsors, visit pwcva.gov/summerreading.
PWPL does not use the Prince William County budget for Summer Reading. The program is fully funded by corporate and community sponsorships and grants. This approach not only saves taxpayers money but also offers opportunities to build and strengthen community relations.
This year’s Summer Reading program theme is “Adventure Begins at Your Library.” From June 10 to August 11, Summer Reading encourages readers of all ages to explore distant lands, solve mysteries, and become the heroes of their own stories.
We invite you to join us in this adventure through reading and exploring our 12 libraries in Prince William County and the City of Manassas. After you read a total of 500 minutes – that’s just 20 minutes a day for 25 days – come into your local library to pick out a free book to keep and be entered into a prize drawing. We’re excited to announce that for 2024, adults can also pick out a book after reading for 500 minutes!
While Summer Reading is all about fun and adventure, it’s also an important strategy to keep minds sharp. It helps prevent the “Summer Slide,” where students can lose academic ground during the summer break. Regular reading enhances vocabulary and fosters a lifelong love of learning. It’s also an enjoyable way to spend the summer between cannonballs at the pool and tag in the backyard!
Prince William Public Libraries has a fantastic summer lineup of free programs and events. Visit the Online Events Calendar for programs that engage, entertain, and educate all ages. To register for Summer Reading, visit any of our libraries, register online from your desktop, or register through the Beanstack Tracker app on your smartphone.
So, get ready to embark on your summer reading adventure! Visit your nearest library or pwcva.gov/library to join the fun and make this summer a season of discovery and excitement.
