CASA Fundraiser at H&R Block

H&R Block is pleased to announce our involvement with Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children (CASA) for child abuse prevention month. The tax offices located in Manassas, Gainesville and Centreville VA will host simultaneous events April 1st-5th to raise money for the cause. Just as taxpayers should consider their tax situation throughout the year, H&R Block’s associates also recognize charitable organizations need support all year long.
“We not only work in this community, but we live here as well,” said Elanor Doczi, Client Service Leader at the Canterbury Premium Office. “H&R Block is proud to assist CASA and increase awareness for child abuse prevention month. We hope to raise enough money, as a community of neighbors and businesses, to sponsor a child for one year.”
H&R Block’s offices at 7775 Sudley Road, 8661 Sudley Road and 9524 Liberia Avenue in Manassas, 7478 Limestone Drive in Gainesville, and 5716 Pickwick Road in Centreville will host official kick-off events with refreshments and free giveaways from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on April 1st with representatives of CASA on hand.
The offices will continue to raise funds and accept donations for CASA through April 5th to assist in CASA’s efforts to protect neglected, abused, and abandoned children in our area.  All donations are tax-deductible.
Questions, sponsorships, and donations can be directed to Jeni Coffie at (703) 369-1040 or Elanor Doczi at (703) 330-0300.
H&R Block has approximately 11,000 company-owned and franchise offices throughout the country. Associates regularly donate time, talent and resources to local, regional and national charitable organizations. H&R Block encourages and recognizes the participation of associates who help improve the communities where they live and work.
CASA’s mission is to watch diligently over children’s safety and care that they not get lost in the system and are provided the needed services to grow up to become healthy, productive adults, able to break the chain of abuse.
CASA was started in 1977 in Seattle by Judge David Soukup as a way to involve the citizens of the community as an extra set of eyes and ears watching over the safety and needs of child victims of abuse and neglect.
Today, there are over 955 CASA programs nationwide serving over 240,000 children through an estimated 75,000 CASA advocates. In Virginia there are 27 programs regulated by Virginia Code and the Department of Criminal Justice Services.
