Woodbridge – May 2, 2022 – What’s Up Prince William (WUPW.news) received a Virginia Press Association (VPA) award. This is the fifth consecutive year the news site has been recognized by the organization.

WUPW.news won first place for its multimedia report about the ACTS Thrift Store, which was upgraded last year.

The store is run by Action in Community Through Service (ACTS). The Dumfries-based non-profit also operates a Hunger Prevention Center, has a 24/7 helpline, and offers assistance for those impacted by domestic violence and sexual assault.

The media site is funded by HomeTowne Auto Repair & Tire and Steve’s Auto Repair & Tire, two auto repair shops that are located in Woodbridge, Virginia.Established in 2015, WUPW.news offers free coverage and event promotion for non-profits. It provided over $26,000 worth of in-kind media services to more than 15 not-for-profit organizations in 2021.
