Woodbridge, VA — January 6, 2020 — Steve’s Auto Repair & Tire is helping clean up the community.

The auto repair shop partners with Keep Prince William Beautiful (KPWB), a non-profit, through Adopt-A-Spot.

Adopt-A-Spot encourages organizations to keep areas clean of litter.

Steve’s Auto Repair & Tire cleans up Neabsco Mills Road, which connects Route 1 to Dale Boulevard.

“It’s amazing how much fast food trash is thrown out of people’s cars on this short stretch of road, let alone what’s being thrown out elsewhere,” Steve’s Auto Repair & Tire Owner ST Billingsley said.

Cigarette butts, he added, are the most difficult items to pick up.

“It would be interesting to see, in the future, with all the electronics in the cars and the cameras on them, if they will be able to detect trash that’s thrown out from the vehicle ahead of them and turn it in, like the way red light cameras operate,” Billingsley said.

Steve’s Auto Repair & Tire has been participating in Adopt-A-Spot since 2013.

“We’ve been helping clean up this part of the road for many years, and we like to make sure our community is looking good,” Billingsley said. “With the new Director at KPBW, we are looking forward to continuing our partnership in keeping Prince William beautiful.”To learn more about the Adopt-A-Spot program, visit the KPWB website.
