Northern Virginia businesses can learn how to reduce company liability and improve safety at the “Know Toxics” training sponsored by Virginia Waste Management Board on Tuesday, May 12 in Alexandria, VA. The training will take place from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 2900 Business Center Drive. The cost is $95 per person and includes lunch and refreshments.
Attendees will learn to manage and properly dispose of common hazardous materials commonly found at businesses such as fluorescent light bulbs, batteries, thermostats, or electronics to reduce risk of injury and company liability.
Attendees will learn how to:
- Identify, handle, dispose, transport, and manage materials safely,
- Interpret the law
- Create a plan using best management practices
- Mitigate storm water impacts
- Select a vendor
- A free, optional presentation on waste oils versus used oils and their management
The Prince William County Solid Waste Division encourages Prince William businesses, schools and other property and facility managers to attend. This training is open to all Northern Virginia area businesses that want to gain a better understanding of hazardous waste and used electronics.
