Group Representing Nearly 70,000 Employees in County Urges Manassas Park Voters to Vote YES to Bring New Revenue, Jobs and Fun to the City

WHAT IS ROSIE’S?

MANASSAS PARK– The Prince William Chamber of Commerce, representing nearly 70,000 employees county wide, today endorsed a “yes” vote to the upcoming pari-mutuel wagering referendum in Manassas Park. The matter on the ballot in the city would allow a Rosie’s Gaming Emporium, owned by iconic horse-racing company Churchill Downs, to open in the community, making Manassas Park the 8th locality in the state to host one of the entertainment and gaming facilities. Rosie’s Gaming Emporiums directly supports the state’s growing horse racing industry and the return of horse racing at Colonial Downs racetrack. Since opening in Virginia just five years ago, Rosie’s and Colonial Downs have invested more than $400 million in the Commonwealth; created over 1200 new jobs; and now contribute $54 million a year in state and local tax revenue.

Speaking about the endorsement, Robert Sweeney, the President and CEO of the Chamber, noted, “We are honored to have Churchill Downs and Rosie’s in Prince William County already, in Dumfries. They have been an incredible community partner there and pumped millions into the town, while creating hundreds of great jobs and bringing a lot of fun to the eastern end of our county. Now we would be thrilled to see Churchill Downs and Rosie’s establish even more of a presence in our county by opening in Manassas Park as well. Churchill Downs is a company known worldwide. Rosie’s Gaming Emporiums are a hit all across Virginia. Manassas Park has been looking for new businesses that can generate the tax revenue they need, while creating good jobs at the same time. That’s exactly what Rosie’s will do, and that’s exactly why we are so proud to endorse a “yes” vote on the upcoming referendum and urge all Manassas Park voters to get and vote yes to pari-mutuel wagering!”

It is estimated a Rosie’s Gaming Emporium in Manassas Park will generate $1.5 million annually in new tax revenue for the city, while creating 150 jobs. To learn more about the campaign and why Manassas Park voters should vote yes, please visit: https://manassasparkwins.com/
