WOODBRIDGE, VA – The public is invited to attend hearings on the proposed FY2018 budget for the Potomac and Rappahannock Transportation Commission (PRTC).

PRTC operates OmniRide commuter buses, OmniLink local bus services, and OmniMatch ridesharing services in Prince William County and the Cities of Manassas and Manassas Park.

The proposed $60 million budget includes $36 million for operating expenses and $24 million in capital costs. No service cuts are proposed. It also calls for new and expanded commuter services that would be paid for by the state as part of the I-95/395 and I-66 transit and transportation demand management plans.

The budget also includes a proposed average 5% fare increase. Under that proposal, the OmniLink local bus fare would increase by 5 cents to $1.55 per trip; the Metro Direct SmarTrip fare would increase by 20 cents to $3.45 per trip; and the OmniRide SmarTrip fare would increase by 40 cents to $6.90 per trip.

The public hearing also will include projects for which PRTC and the Virginia Railway Express (VRE) intend to apply for federal grants.

Public Hearings will start at 7:00 PM on:

  • Monday, April 24, 2017 at PRTC Transit Center, 14700 Potomac Mills Road, Woodbridge, VA 22192
  • Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at Manassas City Hall, 9027 Center St., Manassas, VA 20110
