Virginia CEO to Share Tips for Managing Change with Local Business Leaders

Woodbridge, VA- Over the past 5 years Tim Blitz, CEO of Lumos Networks, has managed the transformation of a 100 year-old company with 600 employees from a provider of legacy residential and small business services to a leading provider of fiber bandwidth solutions with a growing Fiber-to-Home business with 1 gigabit bandwidth availability.  On Wednesday, November 29 the Prince William Chamber of Commerce will host Blitz at a luncheon for business managers and not-for-profit executives at Old Hickory Golf Club (11921 Chanceford Drive; Woodbridge, Virginia 22192). With a talk focused on Managing Change, Blitz will share his experience and tips on how to navigate change successfully based on the Lumos transformation as well as his own experiences as a change agent in other corporate settings.  Registration is available online at PWChamber.org.

“Change is a fact of life for businesses,” notes Chamber Director of Marketing and Communications Andrea Short.  “No matter what kind of changes you face—a shift in leadership, phasing out unprofitable lines of business or even moving to a new location–managing change effectively while keeping your workforce motivated can be key to keeping your organization on solid financial footing. With that in mind, the Chamber is offering this program so that businesses in Northern Virginia can gain new perspective on the changes they are inevitably facing both right now and in the new year.”

Based in Waynesboro, Lumos Networks has expanded from its roots in the Western part of Virginia to its current 11,000 mile fiber footprint across 8 states in the Mid-Atlantic, including the launch of metro fiber markets in Richmond and Hampton Roads. The Company is also connected to over 40 data centers, including many in Northern Virginia.

“We are very proud of what we have accomplished at Lumos Networks,” says Tim Biltz. “We have successfully transformed Lumos Networks into a fiber bandwidth infrastructure provider while maintaining our customer-focused tradition that goes back to the founding of the Company over 100 years ago. We couldn’t have completed the transformation without the determination and technical expertise of our employees and I am ecstatic about the fact that our employee turnover is currently at record low levels while we have managed through this transformation.”
